Avancerad bioinformatik Storskalig analys av biologiska data, exempelvis DNA- och protein-sekvenser, har den senaste tiden blivit ett självklart inslag i många olika sorters biologisk forskning. Syftet med kursen är att ge studenterna en ökad förståelse för de bioinformatiska metoder och algoritmer som används i olika typer av analyser, samt hur data och resultat kan presenteras.

Den totala DNA-sekvensinformationen för ett stort antal organismers arvsmassa är idag känd och det är en fortsatt exponentiell tillväxt av DNA/RNA/protein-sekvens. Bioinformatics and functional genomics are areas of biology that handle the explosion of data created by new large-scale methods for measuring life's molecules. The DNA sequence information for a large number of organisms' genomes is known today, and there is a continued exponential growth of DNA/RNA/protein sequences. PhD Course: Bioinformatics I The course includes a combination of lectures and practical sessions that introduce the analysis of genomic and proteomic data using bioinformatics tools and public databases (such as NCBI, UCSC and ENSEMBL). It covers DNA sequence alignment, protein expression analysis and pathway analyses.
